SOLD OUT -Sourdough Bread Workshop

In this 3 hour workshop taught by Jordan Clark of Beep Boop Bagels we'll learn how to make beautiful, delicious sourdough loaves, starting with making and maintaining your own sourdough starter and finishing with the perfect bake. In addition to tasting various loaves, we'll also cover how to adapt your recipe to find your own signature sourdough, covering variations on ingredients and how to adjust when using different types of flours. Each participant will mix and shape their own loaves and will receive a proofing basket to carry their loaves home in to bake. Additionally, you'll go home with a starter you'll be able to use for as long as you care for it. Unlimited sourdough!

Sashiko and Shibori Pattern Dyeing Workshop with MCreativeJ - (April 6 & 7)

Saturday, April 6th, 10am-1pm

Sunday April 7th, 10 am-1pm

Add creative flair to your kitchen with hand stitched sashiko and shibori dyed pattern tea towels. Spend your weekend afternoons with local fiber artist Melissa Johnson, of MCreativeJ, for a two day, hands on stitching and natural dying workshop. On the first day, April 6th, participants will learn how to design and stitch a sashiko pattern into their tea towel. On the second day, April 7th, students will have the opportunity to naturally dye their tea towel and start designing a second tea towel. All workshop materials will be provided. No embroidery or dyeing experience is required and all skill levels are welcome to attend.

Materials Included:

·         Two cotton tea towels 

·         Embroidery thread

·         Fabric pen

·         Ruler/Stencils

·         Sewing needle

·         Natural dyes

Snacks will be provided in class.

Sashiko embroidery is a decorative mending technique that is a wonderful way to get more use out of your clothes and a creative way to patch your favorite worn out pieces. The use of colorful thread and geometric patterns turns worn out pieces into wearable works of art. Participants will need to bring an article of jean clothing to embroider. All other workshop materials will be provided. No embroidery experience is required and all skill levels are welcome in this class.

Local fiber artist, Melissa Johnson of MCreativeJ will teach basic embroidery stitches to sew DMC magic paper botanical designs or help you create your own, for a one-of-kind tote bag. No prior embroidery experience required and all skill levels are welcome.

About Rachel:

My love of baking began as a child at my mother’s side. Now with children of my own, I find it so rewarding to show another generation the magic of mixing individual ingredients together to make delicious food from scratch. Join skilled cheesemaker Katie Justman of Branch Oak Farm Creamery (Raymond, Nebraska) in the shop for an evening of soft cheesemaking. Branch Oak Creamery’s cheeses are made with sustainable, certified organic methods, and with a positive impact on the environment.

In the first half of the class we will learn to make fresh mozarella, ricotta and marscapone, discuss milk sourcing, equipment and cheese cultures so you can reproduce all what you learn easily in your own home.

In the second half of the class we will go over seasonal cheese plating ideas and sit down to enjoy our creations. There with be an assortment of artisan breads, beverage pairing and decadent Roman-style tiramisu!
